Да, реально без зарегестрированного торгового знака никакой логотип не имеет защищенности.

В таком случае все работы чем-то похожи)
А уникальность использования решает регистрация торгового знака.

Так смысл же не в том - можно использовать, или нет. Смысл в том, что логотип компании - это уникальный знак. А использование клипарта в знаке уже не является уникальным продуктом.
Например, вот реальный пример использования работ того же автора - http://vk.com/coderspub.
В итоге заказчик не сможет предъявлять право на уникальное использование этого знака.

Глянул на саму компнию VectorStock. Американская. Не варез. С адресами. Не подкопаешься. Всё легально.

Что в Гуг-переводе звучит как:

Перевод звучит коряво, но смысл понятен. Использовать изображение можно.

Эти слова ведь говорят о разрешении использования в качестве логотипа:
"Sign writing, logo and branding design."
И это в стандартной лицензии..

Тот же переводчик Гугл. Цитата:
"Все другие ограничения из раздела " не допускается " от стандартной лицензии остаются в силе".
Таким образом ограничения надо поискать в тексте стандартной лицензии.

Digital reproduction in non Vector formats (jpg, gif, bmp) on websites such as Cafepress or Digital Scrapbooking kits. You may use the content in commercial software applications or GUI design for resale with no limitations regarding the number of copies or print run.
You may use the Image in website templates, document templates, wallpapers, screensavers, e-cards or similar products for resale with no limitations regarding the number of copies.
All other restrictions from the “not permitted” section from the standard license still apply.
All license agreements prohibit the resale or re distribution of any part or element of the content as a vector, or in any format that will allow a third party access to the file in digital vector format i.e EPS, Ai, Flash, SVG and the like.
For example the content can not be resold or distributed in a Flash template unless the flash elements have been converted to a non-vector format.

Нужно смотреть не главу, где РАЗРЕШЕНО, а главу, где ЗАПРЕЩЕНО. Вот в ней-то и могут оказаться ограничения.

Изображение покупалось не на shutterstock’е а на ином ресурсе.

Я сам являюсь подписчиком shutterstock’а и активно использую их изображения в работе. НО…
Ни одна из их лицензий (ни ограниченная, ни расширенная) не позволяет использовать изображения в качестве логотипа. Цитата:
«ЧАСТЬ II
ОГРАНИЧЕНИЯ
ДАННЫМ ЗАПРЕЩАЕТСЯ:
…18.
Использовать любые Изображения (полностью или частично) в качестве товарного знака, знака обслуживания, логотипа или другого знака происхождения, а также в качестве части подобных знаков, или в любом другом виде, призванном обозначать легитимнось каких бы то ни было товаров и/или услуг…»

Если я ошибаюсь, не могли бы вы поделиться информацией, возможно существует какой-то иной вид лицензии, о которой я не знаю.

Моя лицензия разрешает использовать это изображение в любых целях, кроме распространения векторной копии. Поэтому векторную копию передать не смогу, а вот изображение в достойном качестве запросто.
P.s.: изображение можно перевести в вектор, и визуально вы не отличите от оригинала.
